Thankful Thursday

Yesterday, I took a trip to Ikea.  That trip took me outside my little town and into a bigger centre.  I'm not fond of living in bigger towns, so I'm thankful for my little town.  I'm also thankful, as I am always, for safe travels.  As we were driving, we had to pull over for an ambulance, and whenever I have to do that, I wonder who has been hurt, and say a little prayer for those involved.

I'm also thankful for having had my kids home this week, although my son has not really been here much.  He has been working with a band, recording their music.  He was gone for two days on the weekend while he worked on recording the instruments, and yesterday, while the house was empty and quiet, the vocalists came and recorded their tracks.  I'm thankful he's able to make a little extra money while he's at school.  It's good for young men to become independent.  He has to go back to school today, though, which I'm a little sad about.  His own band is playing a show tomorrow night, and they need to get back and rehearse.  I'm thankful that they don't rehearse here anymore, because drums are loud!

I'm thankful for all I am learning in these days; patience, grace, self-control.  I'm thankful that I have a spirit that will not just sit back and let things deteriorate, but I'm also thankful for the times when God points out to me that I must sit and be patient.  I'm thankful for two female friends and several blogging friends who love God's word and do not shy away from words like "theology" and "doctrine."  I'm thankful for friends who share my concern about ideas such as "engaging the culture" and being "relevant."  I'm thankful that the gospel does not need to be dressed up or adapted, but that it is always relevant.

I've only been to IKEA once and then only for the experience, not to actually shop. What fun! And the meatballs were yummy!

I've never been to Ikea, but it sure looks like it would be a fun place to visit!

I'm thankful for blogging friends who love God and his Word, of which you are one!
