Conference Updates

I'm enjoying myself immensely this week here in Chicago at the Gospel Coalition Conference.  I wish I could spend time just processing everything, but there is just so much to do!

Here are some brief highlights:'

  • Free books.  Lots of 'em.  I had four of them before I even got to the bookstore.
  • Free books again.  When I purchased Kathleen Nileson's new one, I got another freebie.
  • Discounted books.  The deals here are incredible.   My hubby looked like a pack mule.
  • Speaking.  Awesome so far.  Al Mohler talked about moralism in his session and Tim Keller talked about the Exodus account, specifically the Red Sea crossing as the paraigm for the Christian life.  We did miss Alistair Begg in the evening, but we had other plans.  We can always listen later.
  • Music.  The Gettys.  Need I say more?  There is just something about having 5000+ people singing "Oh Church, Arise" that's pretty awesome.  Plus, as they led into their song, "By Faith," they had a guy playing the Uillean Pipes.  I could have just sat and listened to that.
  • People. I met for the fifst time Staci Eastin, who blogs at Writing and Living.  We "tweeted" each other until we met up.  Had a time visiting for an hour, and we plan to meet for dinner tonight, and I'm looking forward to that.
  • Food.  Chicago style pizza.  Oh my.  We went out for dinner with our friends, the Johnsons, and we were promised good pizza.  It was yummy.  It was a good think we took a walk back to the hotel, because I was full.

Today, we have breakout sessions, and I'm attending two by Kathleen Nielson.  Lots of other things too, and I just might have to pass by that bookstore again!

Thanks for the update! I've been curious about your perspective of the conference. I'm listening to as much as I can here at home, but it doesn't beat being there, meeting other bloggers, FREE BOOKS.......I'm not jealous or anything. :) Really, I'm not.

Uillean pipes. I have googled them and must now google their sound!
Enjoy the conference! Always exciting.
