Links I liked this week
Saturday, March 10, 2012 at 02:53PM Kevin DeYoung had a guest blogger this week, writing about children in the worship service. I was happy to see this article. I know a young mother with a baby under 6 months who doesn't want to take the child to nursery just yet. I regularly hear comments made about that. I think people should mind their own business.
"To my shame I confess I sometimes ignore the real world in which they live, these two precious, battered women and their babies, preferring instead the assumed safety and security not just of social media but of my self righteous smugness." This encouraging and sensitively written piece, Hope, comes from my friend, Lisa.
David Murray gives advice about using commentaries. He provides 20 tips for using them.
Trisha, from The Good Life reflects on the The Highly Undisciplined Mom. "Our goal as Moms isn't to reach a place of eminence, but to be faithful to what God has called us to do."

There's no way I'd have left one of my six-month old babies in a nursery. Shame on the busybodies. :)
I love hearing young children's sounds in the service, as long as it's not prolonged screaming, and try to let parents know that. How are they going to learn to behave in a service unless we all cheerfully tolerate a little normal kiddy noise? Older people who are impatient with children in a service make me really, really angry.
The young mother comes to my Sunday school class. I told her I didn't mind the sound of the baby. One Sunday, there was a woman in the class who kept shooting dirty looks her way when the baby started making a little noise. I kept on teaching right over it, and the woman kept glaring. I felt like reaching out and flicking her on the nose.
Our church has tried on several occasions to make children's church for students from Kindergarten to Grade 6!!! A kid in grade 6 should be in the worship service.
The nursery tends to be a breeding ground for germs.
