Thankful Thursday
Thursday, July 12, 2012 at 06:16AM Thankful for so much today...
For my son, who turns 18 today. Two more years, and we will have no more teenagers. How did we get here so fast? He was the only one of the kids who was born on his due date. He couldn't wait to get outta there!
For safe travels to and from my friend's lake home. I always thank God as I pull in my driveway from a trip. While I travelled home yesterday, and I looked around me at the four lanes of trucks, vans, and cars, all driving over 120km/h, I thought to myself how actually scary that kind of speed is. I'm thankful there were no accidents or delays.
For being able to cast our cares on the Lord. The friend I visited this week has had some similar trials to mine, and we discussed them, and talked about that truth. It never gets old.
For cooler temps at night. During the summer, the heat creates a lot of sleep difficulties. We do have air conditioning, but the upstairs doesn't seem to benefit much from it, so I find it hard. The past few days, I have had nights when I slept for four hours without interruption; a little piece of bliss.
For a new roof, which we really needed. It took longer than anticipated, but it's done, and we can rest easy knowing there will be no lost shingles should we have any windy days.
For time to study. My boy is taking a vacation to South Carolina with some friends next week, and I will have lots of uninterrupted time. I hope I don't waste it.
For this glorious morning, despite the very dry conditions. I am actually praying for rain now. The farmers really need it.
Be thankful today.

Your visit with your friend sounds so enjoyable, and I'm glad you had such a good gift from the Lord. And safe travel, too!
Enjoy your alone time...
Happy birthday to your son! What part of South Carolina will he be? I've lived in South Carolina for the past 34 years. It sounds like you had a very relaxing visit with your friend!
Diane, he's going to Myrtle Beach. I'm envious! I love it there. I'm sure he'll have a great time at the beach.
Ahhh darn...I live in Columbia, Myrtle Beach is about two, maybe three hours from me. I haven't been there in years, but it is a pretty place.
